Washington High School’s 18th Annual Jordan Scheer Memorial Children’s Relay for Life took place on Friday, April 21.
The event took place at Scanlan Stadium at Washington High School.
The event was put together by the WHS Student Council and Leadership class. Advisors are Allison Chaney and Samantha Loepker.
The theme this year was, “Blasting Cancer Out of This World.”
There were approximately 300 elementary students in attendance and over 75 volunteers from Student Council, National Honor Society, NJHS, and school staff members.
Over $20,000 was raised from this year’s event with more donations expected to come in over the next few weeks. Approximately $385,000 has now been raised in the 18 years of the event.
Proceeds from the event are donated to the Franklin County Relay for Life and benefit the American Cancer Society and cancer awareness.
Students in grades three through six from the School District of Washington participated in the event.
This year’s event chairs were seniors Lily Brickel, Matthew Freitag and Lauren Killian, and juniors Madison Moore, Ava Kauffeld and Brynne Pearcy.
