Washington High School basketball player Sam Paule is the Washington Missourian Athlete of the Week, sponsored by First State Community Bank.
Paule, a senior guard, averaged 13.4 points per game this season and shot 77 percent from the free-throw line. He’s been the best three-point shooter on the team over the last two seasons, making 72 during his senior season and 70 as a junior.
“Sam was our lights-out shooter for our entire season and drew the other team’s best defender every game,” said Washington Head Basketball Coach Grant Young. “Not only is he a great shooter, but a great student with a 4.0 grade point average. His contributions to the program will be greatly missed, especially his ability to spread every defense with his outside sharpshooting.”
