Nikki ObermarkThe School District of Washington is excited to take part in the “STL Teacher Proud” campaign, put on by Education Plus, as an effort to highlight the amazing teachers who choose to serve the St. Louis community and inspire others to join the noble profession of teaching. On the second Tuesday of each month, we’ll highlight a SDOW teacher who chooses to make a difference every day.

Teacher Proud Tuesday – Nikki Obermark, Kindergarten Teacher, Clearview Elementary

Obermark is in her 17th year in education, all with the School District of Washington. This is her sixth year teaching kindergarten at Clearview Elementary. Prior to that, she worked at Washington West Elementary for 11 years, starting as a para and then a teacher.

“Clearview is a big school, but has a small school feel to it. It’s a family atmosphere and a really good community,” Obermark said. “As a teacher, I’ve come full circle in my 17 years. I started out as a para for my kindergarten teacher. When she retired, she worked as a volunteer in my classroom. Now, I have former kindergarten students of mine who are in my room as teaching cadets. I don’t know of another profession where you can come full circle like that.”
