Washington High School hosted the GAC Central Cross Country Meet on Thursday, Oct. 4.
The 3.1-mile course was scattered throughout the Washington High School and Middle School campus, starting and finishing at Scanlan Stadium.

In the varsity races, Washington finished third in the girls team standings and fourth in the boys team standings.
In the junior varsity division, Washington placed second in the boys team standings and fifth in the girls team standings.
Varsity Girls
Washington placed third in the varsity girls team standings with a score of 65. Timberland (40) edged Liberty (41) for the team title. Ft. Zumwalt South was fourth with 80.
Leading the Lady Jays was Mia Reed, who finished in second place in a time of 20:10. Jessica Donnelly finished fifth in 20:31 to earn all-conference honors (top 14).
Also running for Washington were Lillian Nix (18th in 21:45), McKenna Jacquin (23rd in 22:09), Anna Weisbrod (25th in 22:29) and Lindsay Sprung (29th in 23:05).
Liberty’s Ally Kruger won the varsity girls race in 19:29.
Varsity Boys
Washington placed fourth in the varsity boys team standings with a score of 89. Timberland placed first with 34 followed by Ft. Zumwalt South (66), Ft. Zumwalt North (75), Washington (89) and Liberty (93).
Leading the Blue Jays was Noah Little, who finished in second place in 17:30. Mason Kauffeld also earned all-conference honors by placing 14th in 18:30.
Also running for Washington were Ben Griffen (23rd in 19:34), Nick Corley (26th in 19:45), Alex Davis (28th in 19:57), Colby Jacquin (33rd in 22:05) and Tristen Zeh (34th in 22:13).
Timberland’s Drew Schulte won the varsity boys race in 17:27, less than three seconds ahead of Little.
Junior Varsity Boys
Timberland claimed the JV boys team title with a score of 28. Washington finished second with 72 followed by Ft. Zumwalt North (80), Ft. Zumwalt South (90), Liberty (127) and Ft. Zumwalt East (133).
Washington’s Garrett Poole won the race in a time of 19:22.
Running for the Blue Jays were Nick James (seventh in 19:58), Eli Houston (15th in 21:00), Ben Scheperle (17th in 21:16), Lucas Newhouse (40th in 23:13) and Zane Johnson (45th in 23:41).
Junior Varsity Girls
Timberland took the JV girls team crown with a score of 52. Ft. Zumwalt South finished second with 60 followed by Ft. Zumwalt North (78), Liberty (78), Washington (79) and Ft. Zumwalt East 157).
Running for the Lady Jays were Avery Johnson (fifth in 23:29), Kristen Monzyk (15th in 24:26), Allison Meyer (16th in 24:32), Madilynn Kipp (18th in 24:40), Samantha Montgomery (26th in 25:27), Abigail Brown (35th in 25:57) and Sarah Simons (40th in 26:05).
Liberty's Fiona Flynn won the JV girls race in 22:47.
