Casey Fisher has been hired by the School District of Washington as the Director of Technology, effective July 1, 2023. The Board of Education approved the hire during its February 15 meeting.
Fisher will replace Rob Landers, who will retire following the 2022-23 school year.
Fisher currently is the Technology Director for the Gasconade County R-2 School District in Owensville, a role he has held for 10 years. He’s been in education for 23 years, and in Owensville for 21 years.
“I’m thankful for my time at GCR-2 and proud of everything I’ve accomplished here,” Fisher said. “I feel blessed for the opportunity to join the Blue Jay family and am excited to see what the future holds.”
A graduate of Owensville High School, Fisher holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from East Central College, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Central Methodist University, and a Master of Science Degree in Educational Leadership from Northwest Missouri State University.
Fisher began his career in education in 2000 as a K-8 teacher with the Strain-Japan R-XVI School District for two years as an ELA, physical education, and music instructor.
He then joined the Gasconade County R-2 School District in 2002. He worked as a seventh-grade social studies teacher for seven years before taking a position as Technology Integration Specialist, a position he held for three years. He then began his current position as Technology Director in 2012.
“Mr. Fisher is joining the School District of Washington’s leadership team with experiences in the instructional technology field. We value the level of commitment he has to enhancing technology in the classroom to building engagement while balancing the importance of hands on learning,” said SDOW Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Kephart. “Mr. Fisher’s servant leadership will be felt by staff as he supports the needs of the District in terms of technology, connectivity, and instructional engagement.”
When the Director of Technology position opened with the School District of Washington, Fisher was immediately interested.
"Most of my family is in the Washington and Union area. My wife’s family is in the Eureka and Chesterfield area. My daughter is graduating from Owensville High School this year and will be at Maryville University for the next six years in the physical therapy field. My son is graduating from State Tech and hopes to get a job in the St. Louis area. Coming to Washington is an opportunity to be closer to family,” Fisher said. “I know Rob pretty well. Washington’s technology director position is similar to what I do in Owensville. It fits my skill set.”
Fisher also has spent time in the coaching ranks in his 21 years at Owensville, serving as assistant coach and head coach of both the wrestling and baseball programs, and assistant coach with the football program. He’s currently an assistant coach with the football and wrestling programs.
“I’m looking forward to meeting everyone in the technology department and getting to know them,” Fisher said. “Getting the chance to work with all of the district staff and integrating technology in the classroom is something that I’m excited about.”
Fisher has many interests outside of the technology industry.
“I live by the values of faith, family and the outdoors. I have been a member of the Glencoe Community Church of God my entire life and serve as the vice president of the board and also serve as the music and worship leader,” Fisher said. “I love the outdoors and can be found playing golf when the weather is nice and spending my free time in the fall in a tree stand. I love bow hunting whitetail. I’m also passionate about music, and I play guitar and sing regularly.”
Casey and his wife, Alison, have two children. Their son, TC, will graduate from State Technical College of Missouri this spring with a degree in Biomedical Engineering. Their daughter, Kaylee, is a senior at Owensville High School and plans to attend Maryville University to pursue a degree in physical therapy.
