Washington's Repke, Guevara Earn All-State Honors at State Track and Field Championships
Washington High school athletes competed at the MSHSAA Class 5 State Track and Field Championships at Jefferson City High School on Friday and Saturday, May 24 and 25.
Class 5 is the largest class in track and field, meaning Washington was competing against the largest schools in Missouri.
The top eight finishers in each event captured all-state honors.
Washington competed in four events and earned all-state honors in two events.
Reaching the podium as all-state medalists were Alyssa Repke and Maddie Guevara.
Repke notched a fourth-place finish in the girls discus with a toss of 40.9 meters (134-2 feet). It was a personal record for Repke, who hit 40 meters for the first time and was .04 meters away from the school record. Her best distance tied the third-place finisher’s best distance, but Repke lost the tiebreaker (second best distance) and dropped to fourth place. It’s the second straight year Repke has been all-state in the discus.
Guevara registered a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 12.18 meters (39-11 ½ feet), which was a new personal record and school record. It was Guevara’s first career state track and field medal.
Washington competed in two other events at the state meet.
Abigail Gilliatt finished 13th in the 400-meter dash in a time of 58.81.
Washington’s 1,600-meter boys relay team of Dylan Bartlett, Landon Boston, Steven Broadbent and Adyn Prophete finished 16th in a time of 3:26.39.
