Half Century of Progress ShowThe Four Rivers Career Center Night Shift Program and instructor Dan Brinkmann have been invited to be a guest at the Half Century of Progress Show August 24-27 in Rantoul, Ill.

The Half Century of Progress Show is the premier working vintage farm show in the U.S. Held the weekend before the Decatur Farm Progress Show, the Half Century of Progress allows visitors to experience what farming and agriculture was like 50 years ago and beyond with live demonstrations, attractions, and fellowship.

This show is the pentacle of tractor shows and draws over 100,000 guests during the four-day event. Many influential members of the tractor field have recently reached out to Brinkmann to learn more about the Night Shift and the student’s involvement.

Word throughout the region about the Night Shift program has spread quickly over the last two months when Brinkmann, along with current and former students, attended the Red Power Round Up in Grand Island, Nebraska in June.

The Red Power Roundup features exhibitors from across North America displaying mostly red international harvester tractors.

The 2019 Night Shift class was invited to display their tractor restoration in the main hall of the Red Power Roundup. Brinkmann also presented at the show about his Night Shift program and how he gets his students involved.

From their appearance at the Red Power Round Up, Brinkmann and his Night Shift Program were invited to the Half Century of Progress Show.

Brinkmann, Automotive Technology instructor at Four Rivers Career Center, has run a Night Shift program at Four Rivers Career Center since 2008.

The Night Shift program deals with anything to do with motors, particularly transportation – cars, trucks, tractors, motorcycles, boats, golf carts or whatever the case may be.

Students who want to be involved, mostly Brinkmann’s automotive technology students, meet every Tuesday and Thursday during the school year at the Four Rivers Career Center from 3-7 p.m. Every session is different, and if it has a motor, the students are working on it as one of their projects.
