WHS Basketball Player Elizabeth Reed Named Washington Missourian Athlete of the Week
Washington High School girls basketball player Elizabeth Reed is the Washington Missourian Athlete of the Week, sponsored by First State Community Bank.
Reed, a 5-4 junior guard, helped the Lady Jays to a third-place finish at the Washington Tournament, defeating Warrenton, 50-38. She scored 22 points in the game, going 4-5 from three-point range. She added five rebounds and four steals.
Reed scored 16 points in the opening round of the tournament, a 43-35 win over Oakville. She represented Washington on the all-tournament team.
“It was an outstanding week for an outstanding young woman,” said Washington Girls Basketball Coach Adam Meyer. “Elizabeth is one of the hardest workers on the team.”
Heading into the Borgia Tournament this week, Reed is averaging 10.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game for the 10-6 Lady Jays.
