Bill Lochmoeller Blue Jay Pride AwardBill Lochmoeller, Alternative Education Para at Washington High School, is the September recipient of the Blue Jay Pride Award.

The Blue Jay Pride Award was introduced to recognize and showcase quality School District of Washington staff and the focus on the District’s core beliefs. Through peer nomination, individuals are able to acknowledge exceptional staff who positively impact the schools, district and community.

The individual who is recognized each month will be presented with a traveling plaque and a gift bag.

Lochmoeller’s nomination forms stated the following:

“Mr. Lochmoeller is a crucial part of our Alternative Education Department at WHS. If I were to sum up Bill’s role it would be to provide students with whatever they need academically. Bill works in our NO Excuses Academic Lab which is filled with students that need extra help each and every hour of the day. Currently 195 students pass through these labs on a daily basis and as a paraprofessional, Bill is their primary source of academic help.”

“Bill is a retired teacher and administrator with an incredibly unique skillset. As a former AP History teacher, Bill is very skilled when it comes to helping students with Language Arts and Social Studies and often works with at-risk students as they plan and construct written assignments. Amazingly, Mr. Lochhmoeller is also able to provide extra math support at all levels. WHS Math teachers often send students to Bill for help with anything from Pre-Algebra to Calculus. Many of our at-risk students have said that Bill has been the primary reason that they have been able to get through their math classes and many of our highest achieving students are astounded by his ability to help them understand the most rigorous problems that they have encountered.”

“I often find myself mentioning Bill when I meet with at-risk families to explain available interventions because I am extremely confident that he can help get students back on track. We ask a lot of Bill, but he always tells me that he will continue to come to work as long as he is having fun. I think I can speak for a huge portion of our students and staff when I say that I hope the party never ends for for Mr. Lochmoeller.”

Lochmoeller was presented the Blue Jay Pride Award traveling plaque by SDOW Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Kephart. He also received a gift bag from the Bank of Washington. Representing the Bank of Washington were Phillip Kleekamp, Cathy Weber, Sherry Wideman and Brenden Brinker.
