Students in Karen Fixsal’s cultural foods classes at Washington High School learned how to prepare salsa, picante and guacamole on Thursday, Sept. 19.
Cultural foods is offered at WHS in three different class sessions during first, sixth and seventh hours.
To help prepare the food, WHS guidance counselor Katie Sandoval joined the three classes and gave her tips and ideas from a family recipe. Her father, Rich Sandoval also was on hand during the sixth and seventh hour classes.
The ingredients for the salsa included tomatoes, garlic and jalapeno.
Students prepared the salsa, picante and guacamole from scratch and then enjoyed it as a treat with chips at the end of class.
