Washington Middle School held its spelling bee on Friday, Feb. 15.
Language Arts and Challenge teacher Stefanie Virgen served as the moderator for the spelling bee, which took place in the gymnasium with the entire student body and faculty watching.
Elizabeth Gillette, a seventh-grade student, was the winner of the spelling bee. Jack Courtney Baker, also a seventh-grade student, was the runner-up.
Gillette will represent Washington Middle School at the Regional Spelling Bee at East Central College this spring.
