Students in Logan Schamerloh’s Leadership class at Washington Middle School planned a gourmet salad bar staff luncheon on Wednesday, October 12.
The luncheon included salad with several different types of lettuce, toppings and dressings. For dessert, there were different types of cobblers for staff to enjoy.
The Leadership class worked with Diana Harrison’s class to prepare the food (chopping, dicing, cooking). Kaylin Bade’s Ag Science class made homemade butter, dessert, strawberry vinaigrette, and salsa.
The Leadership students worked on written communication skills, visual communication, and electronic communication skills. They had to create a plan for what meal they thought would go over well, and how to execute a plan to make it happen.
The students had to problem solve together as different situations during their planning process occurred. The students had to make a budget, determine what items were needed, and problem solve to figure out how to make it happen within the budget.
