Washington High School continued its hot start to the varsity softball season by capturing the Seckman Tournament championship on Friday and Saturday, September 8 and 9.
The Lady Jays (14-1-1) went 4-0 in the tournament, allowing only three runs in the four games. They posted wins on Friday over Farmington 13-3 and Union 6-0, and then came back on Saturday to defeat Festus 14-0 and then Francis Howell North in the championship game, 9-0.
Washington, champions of the Sullivan Tournament to start the season, is playing this week in the Webster Groves Tournament.
The Lady Jays are coached by Grant Young and Tim Zumsteg.
Players on the varsity roster are seniors Elizabeth Reed, Lacy Monzyk, Kelsie Holtmeyer, Christine Gerling, Kendall Nix, Lauren Opfer, Maddie Guevara, Ella Lause and Taylor Brown, juniors Grace Molitor, Chloe Mueller and Ellie Hopen, sophomore Maddie Kluesner and freshman Madisen Meyer.
