Four Rivers Career Center offered a Depression and Suicide Prevention presentation on Tuesday, Nov. 20, in the Automotive Technology shop.
The event was presented by Rod Tappe and was open to all FRCC students who wanted to attend.
The Tappe family tragically lost their son Hank, age 16, when his battle with depression resulted in suicide in 2013.
Rod Tappe is a retired police officer who served as a school resource officer in the Union School District for the last eight years of his career. He founded Hank’s Hope Foundation and began giving presentations to share Hank’s story and help reach out to kids who struggle daily with depression. He has been researching depression and suicide for the past several years and offers his personal experiences and a parent’s perspective of the subject.
