Veterans DayWith Veterans Day on Sunday, Nov. 11, buildings in the School District of Washington have scheduled Veterans Day programs.

Washington High School


Washington High School’s annual Veterans Day Assembly will be Friday, Nov. 9, at 8:30 a.m. in the Blue Jay Gymnasium.

The featured speaker will be School District of Washington Board of Education member Colonel Bob Oreskovic, US Army Retired.

There will be a reception for all Veterans and their families beginning at 7:30 a.m. in the band room (Northington Lobby Entrance). Breakfast will be served.

Washington Middle School

Washington Middle School together with Homestead at Hickory View will host its Veterans on Friday, Nov. 9.

Homestead at Hickory View will serve a gourmet breakfast for all Veterans from 7:30-8:30 am. Parking will be available at the Homestead at Hickory View; however, it will be limited. At 8:30 am, Homestead will transport the guests to Washington Middle School for the assembly and back to their vehicles after the assembly. Homestead at Hickory View is located behind the fire station on 14th Street. The address is 1481 Marbach Drive.

Washington Middle School will host the Veteran’s Day Assembly. The program will begin at 9 a.m. and last approximately 45 minutes. The program will honor all Veterans who have served or are currently serving in the Armed Forces or Reserves.

Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, who have served our country, are encouraged to participate and be recognized during the program. If you plan to attend the program without breakfast, please arrive at Washington Middle School at 8:45 a.m.

Nov. 7: Clearview Elementary; breakfast for Veterans at 7:30 a.m. The program begins at 8 a.m.

Nov. 9: Campbellton Elementary; breakfast for Veterans at 7:30 a.m. The program begins at 8 a.m.

Nov. 9: Labadie Elementary; breakfast for Veterans at 8 a.m. The program begins at 8:30 a.m.

Nov. 9: Washington High School; breakfast for Veterans in the Band Room at 7:30 a.m. The program begins in the Blue Jay Gymnasium at 8:30 a.m.

Nov. 9: Washington Middle School; the program begins at 9 a.m. Homestead at Hickory View will serve breakfast for Veterans from 7:30-8:30 a.m.

Nov. 9: Augusta Elementary; the program begins at 9:30 a.m.

Nov. 12: Marthasville Elementary; the program begins at 2 p.m. Refreshments for Veterans following the assembly.

Nov. 13: South Point Elementary: Veterans are invited to greet students as they arrive to school and eat breakfast with them from 7-7:45 a.m. The VFW Honor Guard will teach flag etiquette to fourth-grade students at 8 a.m.

Nov. 13: Washington West Elementary; the program begins at 6:30 p.m.
