A large crowd turned out for the Friends and Family Show.

Winter Guard has been at Washington High School for over 20 years. It’s the color guard from marching band performing in a gymnasium to recorded music. There is usually some props, backdrops and a floor covering that matches the theme of the show.

Washington High School’s Pride of Washington Winter Guard competed at the MCCGA (Mid-Continent Color Guard Association) on Saturday, April 1, in Springfield.

Washington secured the title of State Champions in Scholastic AA Round 1. This is the 14th overall MCCGA State Title for the Washington High School Color Guard.

Over 120 guards in six different classifications competed in the event. Washington finished with a score of 78.450, nearly passing the second-place group by .120.

Erin Shaul is the WHS Winter Guard Director.
