The 51th annual Gene Hunt Washington Marching Band Festival takes place Saturday, Oct. 5.
The festival features a parade competition and a field competition. Approximately 8,000 people and over 20 high school bands are expected.
As the hosts, the Washington High School Marching Blue Jays will give exhibition performances in both the parade and field competitions. They are not eligible for awards.
The parade begins at 8:30 a.m. Washington will be the last entry in the parade and should step off at approximately 9-9:30 a.m. The parade will begin at Main and Cedar. It will continue on Main Street, turn on Jefferson Street to Eighth Street and end at Sunnyside.
The field competition at Scanlan Stadium begins at 11:30 a.m. The Washington Marching Blue Jays will perform at approximately 9 p.m.
