The School District of Washington’s Board of Education will meet Wednesday, April 24, at the district office at 7 p.m.
Among the items on the agenda are:
*Special Presentation - BUILD Academy Auction: The District's BUILD Academy offers an authentic project based learning experience to over 100 sixth-grade students from Washington West Elementary and Campbellton Elementary. This project based learning model exposes students to possible careers they may not have been aware of before they entered the BUILD Academy.
The end project is a dog house, and coming up on May 10 at Four Rivers Career Center is the auction for all the dog houses that were created this year.

*Student Representative Report: Tristan Zeh, Student Representative to the Board of Education, will share a report at the board meeting on current District events and activities.
*Upcoming Meetings: The MSBA Leadership Summit will be held June 8-9 in St. Charles. Tristan Zeh will be participating in one of the breakout sessions on Saturday, as part of the Student Advisor Panel. The student advisors will have the opportunity to share information about their school's selection process, their role, and what they have learned about governance.
The MSBA Fall Conference will be held September 26-29 at Tan-Tar-A. This conference brings board members and superintendents together from all over the state for a weekend of learning and networking.
*2019-20 Board Meeting Schedule and Board Committees: Documents will be provided to the Board with tentative meeting dates for next year and board committee assignments.
*Building Level Report - Washington Middle School: Laura Bruckerhoff, Associate Principal at Washington Middle School, will share building goals and student initiatives at the board meeting.
*WHS Record Boards: The Washington High School Athletic Association (WHSAA) is requesting permission to construct a set of record boards between the concession stand and bleachers at the high school football stadium.
*Facilities - Roofing and HVAC: Roof restoration and HVAC improvements at Four Rivers Career Center and Washington High School have been a part of our capital improvements plan scheduled for completion in the summer of 2019.

*Science Textbooks: The Science Resource Committee is recommending the Board of Education take action to purchase McGraw Hill Science resources for grades K-8.
*Project Lead The Way – Technology Pathway: Will propose the expansion of Project Lead the Way (PLTW) with the inclusion of a Computer Science Pathway to the programs offered.
Tim Zumsteg is willing to attend the necessary training to teach the courses. Upon approval, the high school would incorporate Course 1 - Computer Essentials, next year into the schedule. The goal is to have a Cyber Security course available by the junior/senior years.
