The School District of Washington’s Board of Education held its monthly meeting on Wednesday evening, November 18.
The Board decided that due to the height of the pandemic upon us, the current community transmission rate, and maintaining higher safety standards, the District will maintain a more protective approach and continue to follow the CDC guidelines as originally adopted.
Additionally, due to some positive cases in our primary grades (K-3), the District will be requiring students in grades Kindergarten through three to wear face coverings, effective Monday, November 23. K-3 parents are asked to provide their student with a face covering to assure that it will fit properly.
The Board believes these measures will help the District remain in its current in-person/hybrid learning model and reduce chances of transitioning to all-virtual learning.
The state of Missouri does have less protective guidelines, but the Board feels more comfortable following the CDC guidelines at this time.
The Board of Education and the School District of Washington will continue to closely monitor data pertaining to COVID-19 and have the ability to modify these changes in the future.
