Hello, My name is Kara Howard. This is my 12th year teaching 1st Grade at Riley Elementary! I am very excited to start a new school year here at Riley! I have been employed by the Vigo County School Corporation since 2002. I taught at Farrington Grove for 10 years. At Farrington Grove, I taught 1st grade, 2nd grade, and Title 1/Reading Recovery. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, and a Master’s degree in Special Education. I received both from Indiana State University. I have 3 wonderful boys named Noah, Eli, and Karson. Noah will be a Junior at Rose Hulman this year. Eli will be a Freshman at ISU, and Karson will be a 7th grader at Honey Creek. I enjoy running, and have participated in many half marathons. I also enjoy reading, and watching my boys play tennis. My goal each year is to make sure that each child in my classroom is working up to their fullest potential. I know that children are all different. I provide daily small group activities in which each child in my classroom has the opportunity to work at their level.
