About Mrs. Burpo

Mrs. Dianne Burpo is a Reading Recovery/ Title 1 teacher at Ouabache Elementary School. Mrs. Burpo is a 28 year veteran teacher, having taught first grade and kindergarten for 22 years prior to assuming the role of reading teacher. She has a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and is a National Board Certified Teacher. Mrs. Burpo serves on the Core Team and Student Assistance Teams at Ouabache and is also the Technology Teacher Leader. In addition to her work in the Vigo County School Corporation, Mrs. Burpo teaches Preschool Special Education and Early Childhood Education courses at Indiana State University.
In Reading Recovery, we provide the supplies! Students will be provided with books to read at home, a subscription for a digital reading library that can be accessed on the Chromebook, and a cut-up sentence notebook.  We encourage our students to read the books in their book bag, glue their cut-up sentence in the notebook, and draw a picture to go with it. Please be sure the book bag comes back to school each day!
  • Always be respectful of the teacher’s right to teach, other students’ right to learn, and everyone in the classroom.
  • NO cell phone or gum in my classroom.
  • Arrive to class on time every day with ALL your needed books and supplies.
  • I will dismiss you at the end of class – NOT the bell.
