My name is Annie Bacon. I was born and raised in Terre Haute. I went to college at Indiana University where I earned my BA in journalism and a second concentration in political science. I went back to school and earned my teaching license from Indiana State University.
I have been teaching for 16 years. At Otter Creek, I am the yearbook sponsor, newspaper sponsor and coach our English Academic Super Bowl team. I have been married 15 years to my husband, Nathan. We have three wonderful children, Camden (16), Bryce (10) and Trey (8).
I am a 2021 WTHI Golden Apple Recipient. That same year, I was recognized by a former student at South Vermillion High School and won a 2021 Academic Excellence Most Influential Teacher award. In 2022, I was awarded a Vigo County Excellence in Education Award. In 2023, I won WTWO’s Teacher of the Month for the month of October. I love what I do and feel very fortunate that I get to play a small part of our children’s future.
