UHS: Weekly News and Notes, May 2

Dear Families and Community Members,

We recently had the distinct honor of hosting the national CEO of Project Lead the Way (PLTW) as part of his visit to Massachusetts. For those unfamiliar, PLTW provides the enriching curriculum for our engineering, biomedical, and computer science programs, as well as initiatives at our other schools. When the opportunity arose to showcase our school, we eagerly welcomed him.

During his visit, he had the chance to witness a typical day here, stepping into various classrooms and interacting with our students. He was deeply impressed not only by the engaging experiences within our PLTW programs but also by the overall enthusiasm for learning across disciplines. From an energetic 8th-grade exploratory class to graphic design, an 8th-grade science lab, Spanish, and business classes, he saw firsthand the dynamic learning environment our staff cultivates. Even in brief conversations with students about their other classes, the positive and enriching nature of their education here shone through. It was clear that our commitment to developing well-rounded students is a shared vision throughout our school.

What resonated most profoundly with us is that the vibrant learning and positive interactions he observed were not a special performance. This was simply a snapshot of the dedication and hard work that happens within our school walls every single day, often without fanfare or external recognition. Our staff, from teachers to support personnel, consistently go above and beyond to create meaningful and authentic learning experiences for our children. Their passion for education and their commitment to our students' growth are truly inspiring.

As we move into May, a time when it might be easy to ease up, our staff continues to demonstrate an unwavering commitment to reaching and teaching every student. This recent visit served as a powerful reminder of the exceptional culture and high standards we uphold. Witnessing the engagement and learning of our younger students fills us with immense hope for the future.

The strength of our schools lies in the dedication of our staff and the support of our community. To ensure we can continue to provide this high-quality education, we urge you to attend the Town Meeting on May 13th, where the school budget will be presented. This is your opportunity to learn more about the resources needed to support our exceptional educators and the vital work they do. Your presence and your voice are important in shaping the future of our schools. We hope to see you there.

Sincerely,

Dr. Rubin

For example, the May School Council meeting will be considering School Improvement progress from this year to identify goals and finalize the School Improvement Plan for next year, so that we have strong goals identified for next year as teachers and students consider goals for professional practice and student learning growth.

Internship Partners
If any families or caregivers have any interest in supporting our internship program, we are always looking for new workforce partners to take on interns. Contact Mr. Moura or Mr. Coppolino to get a sense of what our needs are and how you can help us out!
