U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona today recognized 297 schools across the United States as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2022. Drum Intermediate School was among the schools receiving this recognition in the category of Exemplary High Performing Schools. Drum is the only school in the State of Washington to receive the award this year. With over 130,000 schools in the US, this is quite the honor.
The National Blue Ribbon Award is described by the Department of Education in this way:
“The National Blue Ribbon School award affirms and validates the hard work of students, educators, families, and communities in striving for – and attaining – exemplary achievement. National Blue Ribbon Schools serve as models of effective school practices for state and district educators and other schools throughout the nation.”
With its 39th cohort, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has bestowed approximately 10,000 awards to more than 9,000 schools.
