Union Springs FFA Members Excel at District 7 Leadership Development Events

This past Saturday, Union Springs FFA members showcased their skills and dedication at the District 7 Leadership Development Events (LDEs), competing against more than 275 students from across the region. Despite the tough competition, Union Springs FFA members stood out with impressive performances.

The Agriculture Issues team—comprised of Kora Alcock, Taylor Bergerstock, Asa Brown, Andrew Case, Troy Gardner, Avery Koch, and Samuel Patterson—secured 1st place in their contest, demonstrating their expertise in addressing critical agricultural topics.

In individual competitions, Stephani Diaz-Cabrera excelled in the Jr. Creed Speaking contest, taking home 1st place with her confident and articulate delivery.

Additionally, Union Springs FFA members earned top spots in other contests:

  • Stephen Case placed 3rd and Ella Cuff placed 5th in the Employment Skills contest.
  • Avery Koch placed 4th and Abigail Kozub placed 6th in Sr. People in Agriculture.

With these outstanding results, all of these members have now qualified for the Substate contests in March, where they will compete for a chance to advance further.

Alyssa Roorda, Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor, expressed her excitement for the team’s success. "FFA competitions help students develop skills that will benefit them for years to come. Seeing their hard work and dedication pay off at this level is incredible. I have no doubt they will continue to impress at Substates!"

Congratulations to all of the competitors, and best of luck at the Substate contests in March!
