Education\Degrees: Masters in Literacy

Hello! My name is Jasma Mercer. I am a 4th grade teacher at Concord Elementary. The 2023-2024 school year will be my 23rd year of teaching in the Troy City School District. I work with a fantastic group of teachers who share the same philosophies of teaching and work hard to make sure our students get the education they deserve. I received my bachelor’s degree from Wright State University and my masters in literacy from the University of Dayton. I did my student teaching in Troy and have been here ever since. I taught 6th grade for four years then moved to 4th grade where I hope to stay for a while. I love it! On a personal note, I am married to Ty Mercer who is a fifth grade teacher at Concord. We have been married for 21 years and have two amazing children, Trayce and Nora. Trayce is a Freshman at Ohio Dominican University and Nora is a Sophomore at Troy High School. I am blessed to have my family so close to me. I expect a lot from my students and work hard to give them the best education possible. I want them to feel a sense of accomplishment and be successful in and out of the classroom. I am thankful for a supportive group of educators and community that helps my students and me achieve this.
