Jennifer Paluda
Greetings! I’m Ms. Jennifer Paluda and I am the Library Media Specialist at Trinity Intermediate and Trinity West. I’ve been a Hiller since 1st grade, where I attended North Franklin Elementary School. I graduated from the district in 1990. I studied at the University of Pittsburgh, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a Master’s degree in Education while working as a graduate student researcher.
I got my start in libraries as a regular at preschool storytime at Citizen’s Library. I have warm memories of frequenting the library with my dad to borrow books. In 2001, my relationship with libraries went professional when I joined Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, providing outreach programs to K-12 students at Pittsburgh Public Schools.
In 2008, I bid farewell to the public library to return to my alma mater, working with learners in their elementary school libraries. I currently serve as the Library Science Department Chair.
My priorities are imparting information and media literacy skills to help learners to become critical thinkers as they navigate their digital worlds while motivating them to choose reading as an entertainment option. Additionally, I look forward to using the state-of-the-art tools in the Media Center to help kids discover their passions so they may begin to lay the foundation for their future.
In my free time, I love to read literary fiction, mysteries, and dystopian novels. In the summer, I can be found in the garden or doing yoga. I am also an amateur gamer who enjoys video games, board games (especially trivia), and New York Times’ games like “Wordle” and “Connections.” I share my life with my husband and our beloved pets: Honey, our sweater-wearing German Short-haired Pointer who prefers to hunt for treats over real game, and Page Turner, our kitty who prefers to spend her time watching bird videos online.
