WSHS School Safety Update
In preparing for the start of the school year, new state laws requires that all doors be locked on campus.
This law requires ALL doors including classroom doors, hallway doors, cafeteria doors, gym doors, media doors, office doors be locked.
NOTE: Our bathroom doors in our hallways will not be part of this requirement.
Therefore, we will have ALL DOORS locked on our campus starting on Monday, August 12.
Please note that Winter Springs Administration, Teachers, and Staff are as prepared as we can be to handle this but not without some patience and understanding from our students, teachers, staff, and community!
Soon, all students, teachers, and staff will get ID Card Reader Badges to be able to access certain doors on our campus and this law will become easier to navigate. However, we do not have these ID Card Reader Badges yet. We are hoping they will be here this week!
In the meantime, we must comply with the state law and keep our doors locked from day one of school and troubleshoot and make some hard decisions about how to allow access to certain areas of our school for our students and staff. I ask that, at this time, for you to have a conversation with your student to be very very patient as we work through this law and requirement.
