WSHS Community:

We are very excited to announce that WSHS Bear Bash 2024 is around the corner – Monday, August 5, 2024, 10am-12pm.

We put together a little a FAQ below to help you plan for the big day!

FAQ:

1. What and Where is Bear Bash?

Bear Bash 2024 is a time where the entire WSHS community comes together to showcase who we are and what we offer! It will be located by the WSHS cafeteria and courtyard! You can’t miss it! Listen for the FUN!

2. Will Student Schedules be printed and available?

No, Student Schedules will not be printed. They will be available through the Skyward Student Portal electronically 

3. What WSHS clubs, activities, and programs were invited to Bear Bash?

ASL, Beta Club, Debate Club, HunnyBears Dance Team, Film Club, Interact Act, Thespians Society, Newspaper, Pre-Collegiate Minority Club, Renewable Energy, Wellness Club, Women Empowerment Club, Gospel Choir, IB, and many, many more! Please join a WSHS club!!!

4. Will WSHS Athletics be present at Bear Bash?

Yes, all our WSHS Athletic Coaches and their programs have been invited! This is a great time for currently enrolled students to meet our WSHS coaches and our athletic staff. Make sure to introduce yourself to our Athletic Director, Mr. Gomrad.

5. Will student parking decals be available for purchase, and will Seniors be able to pay for Senior Painted Parking Spots?

Yes, that will be in the cafeteria. Parking passes are $80 for the school year. Senior Painted Parking Spot fees will be $20.

For the parking pass, they will need. 

  1. Senior status (skyward can be used to prove senior class status)
  2. $80 in cash or check.   A valid DL, proof of insurance, and registration
  3. The parking forms will be available at Bear Bash!

For the personalized Senior Painted Spot, they will need $20 in cash or check.  Proof you paid for parking FIRST!

We will have Two separate lines/tables/transactions. 

6. Will PTSA, SAC, and Red Apple Dining Services be there?

Yes, they will be in the cafeteria as well. Please make sure you get your PTSA membership! They support our school so much! NOTE: you do not need to be here all the time if you join PTSA. Your membership fee shows that you support their mission and the work they do to make our school better! Join PTSA!

7. I need to talk with someone from transportation about busing, will that be available?

Yes, SCPS transportation will be present. NOTE: This is normally a very long line. Be prepared for a busy line and possible long wait!

8. Will WSHS have special performances during Bear Bash?

Yes, we do! WSHS Cheerleaders; ASL-American Sign language; WSHS Drumline; HunnyBears Dance Team will all perform!  Stay tuned for schedule! 

9. Will food and drinks be served?

We do invite some vendors to come to Bear Bash. We have a few that make it out here! They will charge money for their service.

10. Can I buy a WSHS School Shirt or Spirit items?

Yes- our school store will be up and ready to go! Come prepared to buy a WSHS School Shirt (along with specialized $10 “Class of” shirts) Pay with Cash.

11. Do I get to tour the school?

YES, feel free to walk around the campus and tour the school on your own. Teachers are not back on contract yet, but you can go see where the classrooms are.

12. Who is Bruce the Bear??

Bruce the Bear is our mascot! He will be around the facility during Bear Bash! Take a picture with him and post it on twitter and Instagram a tag #papagaff_wshs on Instagram or @Petes_dragons and @WSBearAthletics on Twitter

13. Will some fun photo opportunities be available during Bear Bash?

Yes, we have a great partnership with Alpha-Lit-Letters and we will have giant WSHS and GO BEARS letters posted to take pictures at!

14. Will there be any other orientation offered to new students or freshman?

YES, this freshmen/new student orientation will be prior to Bear Bash from 9am-10am in the WSHS auditorium

15. What if I want to submit a schedule change?

The Schedule Change Form will be available on a date TBD. Students will be able to request a schedule change for Semester 1 – link will be sent in another email. 

16. Will counselors be available?

NO, counselors will be busy working on schedules during Bear Bash.

17. Does WSHS have a social media presence?

18. Will there be technology help available for students and families that need help with skyward password reset?

Yes! Mrs. Brosch will be available in the WSHS Media Center during Bear Bash for technical assistance, including student and parent password resets.
