Public Works Contracts Process
Public Works & CUPCCAA:
The District is governed by the Public Contract Code that pertains to CUPCCAA for all public works projects. Please follow the Public Works Agreements (PWA) Process / Procedures when trying to schedule a public works project. Public works projects consist of the following (20117 (b), 20651 (b):
- Construction, alteration, demolition, installation, maintenance, or repair work,
- Done under contract, and
- Paid for in whole or in part out of public funds
* This can include preconstruction and post-construction activities related to a specific project.
CUPCCAA:
If you or your department knows of a specific contractor that would be interested in bidding an upcoming project, they are required to do the following:
• Have a current license, hold the correct classification to perform the work, and are subject to verification from the Contractor State License Board (CSLB);
• Have registered with the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) if the contractor plans on completing projects above the project thresholds. No contractor or subcontractor may be awarded a contract for a public works project (Awarded on or after April 1, 2015) unless registered with the DIR per California Labor Code section 1725.5;
• Complete the District’s on-line “Contractors Application for Qualification” each calendar year by visiting the Contractor Information webpage and registering: CUPCCAA Registration
