Welcome Letter

Dear Parents,

Welcome to First Grade and the 2024-2025 school year!   You will be amazed at just how much your child will grow this year. Most likely, your child has had the seeds of reading and writing planted, and during first grade, those seeds will grow and blossom, making your child an accomplished reader and writer! You will see changes in your child's thinking, as they become familiar with abstract concepts and symbols. The change will be dramatic -- just compare a tiny seed with a full-grown sunflower! That's the kind of growth you'll see this year!

The transition from kindergarten to first grade will take some time. Our first few weeks of school will involve many activities to help us get to know each other, develop caring and respectful relationships, establish a routine with procedures, and learn our school rules.

 SUPPLIES

Please send your child to school with a backpack and a lunchbox/bag each day. I will be providing your child with everything they will need in the classroom for the start of the year. We use our supplies frequently and are always in need of classroom donations. Items we use most frequently are copy paper, glue sticks, skinny black expo markers, tissues, Purell wipes, and any treasure box items you have. Thank you!

LUNCH/SNACK
Lunch is at 11:15 p.m.  We have snack at 1:45 p.m. Lunch will be provided at no cost for students this year. If students would rather bring their lunch, that is fine as well. Please label your child's lunch and their snack so they know which one to eat when.

 Water Bottles
I encourage sending a water bottle to school with your child especially with the hot days we have been having.  Please do not send juice or anything sweet as this can attract ants into our room.  Thank you.

Dismissal
At the end of the day, parents and older siblings will find our class under the solar panel shade structure at the front of the school. It takes a while to get to know each family and their dismissal situation. Please be patient with when each child says goodbye to me and points to you.

KOC
KOC children will walk to the lunch tables and meet their leaders there.

Throughout the year you may have questions or concerns. The easiest way to communicate with me is through e-mail.  My e-mail address is [email protected]
