Teaching Experience
I couldn't be more excited to start the 2024-25 school year back here at DPS in 4th grade. This will be my 17th year teaching and I have been fortunate to spend all those years here in San Marcos. I received my teaching degree from CSUSM and started teaching right away. I have spent time teaching at San Marcos Elementary, Paloma Elementary, San Elijo Elementary, and here at Double Peak. I absolutely LOVE our school and have been here since our school opened! I spent the majority of my career teaching 3rd grade, but got the opportunity to move to 4th grade last year. I have fallen in love with this age group and all of the wonderful learning students get to experience.
Teaching Philosophy
I love teaching and am passionate about seeing students find their genius. I truly believe in the potential of each child and love getting to see each student grow in confidence and expression. Fourth grade is a big step academically for most students, but getting to see them rise to those high expectations and mature into strong independent learners has been the most fulfilling experience. We fill our classroom time with a balance of hard work and opportunities for fun and laughter. I truly care about each student I am lucky enough to have in my class and try my best to foster strong connections with each child to let them know they are supported and capable of great things.
Personal Info
On a more personal note, I grew up in the Bay Area (Go Giants!), but have called San Diego home since college. I love all things outdoors, whether it's hiking, going to the beach, or checking out the many natural beauties of Southern California. I also LOVE traveling and usually spend most of the summer somewhere around the globe. I got to spend this summer traveling throughout Italy and Barcelona! When I'm not outdoors I'll usually be doing something musical (students will definitely get tired of me singing in class all day) or spending time with family and friends.
I'm looking forward to an amazing year!
