  • Good morning everyone, please stand for the pledge of allegiance. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands one nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all. Please be seated.
  • Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Monday, November 7.
  • The TEMS girls soccer team ended their undefeated season with a bang, winning the CRAL final over town rivals Ellington with a score of 4-0. The team was electric from the start with energy and effort that led them through the game. Scoring opened with an excellent poacher's finish as Alina Zajac tracked down a deflecting shot from Abigail Ambooken. Shortly after, Kylah Wood threaded a pass in behind the Ellington defense to Alina Zajac, who once again used her speed to put her name on the score sheet. The third goal came off a corner kick from Kylah Wood, which swerved it's way to the back post and was bodied in by Gianna DiSalvatore. Wrapping up the scoring in the first half was Allison Marques, who sent a curling corner kick bending into the front post and through the goalies hands. Amazingly, the Cougars led 4-0 in the first 20 minutes of the game, which proved to be enough to ensure the victory. Overall, the match was a firm stamp on a remarkable season. Player of the game is awarded to Alina Zajac scoring two goals on the day, as well as totaling an astounding 22 goals on the season. Lastly, a huge thanks to the accomplished group of 8th grade girls including: Abigail Ambooken, Annabel Ambooken, Nora Carty, Pratheeka Dyava, Maddie Edwards, Ari Flores, Lily Jaworski, Hannah Kowalchik, Jenna Martin, Hailey Olints, Teagan Purcell, Maeve Verzella, and Alina Zajac. Congratulations CRAL champions!
  • The spring like weather put some serious spring in the steps of the girls cross country team as they celebrated a 5th place finish at the state championship meet Saturday at Wickham Park.  The girls fought hard for their top 5 trophy with TE's fastest 5 runners finishing in the top 123 of 363 runners in the 2.3 mile A race.  Bringing home a little extra hardware by busting into the top 50 was Jana Brownbill who placed 38th.  Rachel Matyschsyk kept her fiercely competitive edge as she finished in 77th.  The triple threat of Greta Johnson, Erin Fang, and Charlotte Zhang finished together in 120th, 121st, and 123rd respectively within the same second.  This power pack ran a smart race by pacing one another and working together in true TE cross country spirit.  Brenna Klaus and birthday girl Mia DeLany both represented TE well looking powerful as they crossed the finish line.  In the 1.7 mile B race, Julia Pepin fearlessly led the pack of 262 runners finishing in 7th place earning a medal for finishing in the top 50.  Saanvi Nigam also medaled as she made an impressive 27th place finish.  Jozie Waniewski, Julia Attenello, and Jane Carty also finished in the top 5 TE runners in their race as they kept a consistent pace throughout the course.  The power pack of the B race was Yuna Kasunic, Darshana Bhuvana, and Keerthana Toram who finished within seconds of each other as they pushed through the uphill finish.  A big congrats to the entire team for an undefeated season, winning the league championship, and bringing home a trophy for a top 5 finish in the state.  Way to go, Cougars!!
  • The Boy's Cross Country competed at the state meet on Saturday, November 5th.Twenty-two athletes qualified to compete.  Fifteen runners competed in the East Race, and three medaled: Graeme Taylor, Alex Larmand, and Robert Valen, who finished 7th overall. In the main race, seven athletes qualified to compete for the title of state champion.  Although they did not come home with the state trophy, Karthik Prem, Derek Bifolck, Gavin Lippi, Karthik Srikumar, Erik Edstrom, and Jeffery Zeng, ran excellent individual races. Jeffery Zeng placed 16th overall and second among the large team runners with a final time of 14:07; Erik Edstrom also ran a great race with a finishing time of 15:14. Congrats to all the athletes that competed.  To all the cross-country athletes, congrats on a great season.

  • Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Friday, November 4.
  • The Timothy Edwards boys soccer team played last night in the final of the CRAL against the Rams of Illing.  Unfortunately, the ball didn't bounce their way and were on the losing end of the 1-0 scoreline.  The first half was dominated by the Cougars but the chances they created were either just wide or didn't have enough to challenge the keeper.  Late on in the half, Ian Park had a chance just go off the keeper and it fell to Bassel Taleb but his opportunity was cleared off the line.  In the second half the sun played a roll and caused a number of missed ball in the air.  Fran Linares sported a baseball hat to protect his eyes.  However bad the sun was, the Rams scored off a corner with about 8 minutes to go.  The ball bounced twice in the box and the Rams' player finished an inside of the foot volley into the back of the net.  It was a great season for the boys even though the last game didn't go their way.  Their final record was 11-2-1 with both loses at the hands of the Rams.  A special shoutout to the girls team for their support and to Coach Lepak for allowing the high school soccer team to come and support our Cougars.  Congrats on a great season boys!

  • Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Monday, October 31st.
  • The TEMS Boys Soccer team hosted one of two semi-finals last night taking on East Hartford on the Orchard Hill Soccer field last night.  East Hartford came out strong and surprised the Cougars taking an early lead early in the first half.  Once the game settled in, the Cougars were a different team.  Players were working hard around the ball and their efforts were soon rewarded.  Ben Perkins found himself alone in front of goal and tucked away his chance leveling the score at one a piece.  TE kept pressing.  The Falcons were constantly thwarting their attacks.  About 28 minutes into the half, Tanush Mohapatra found Chirag Balaji over the top and behind the defense.  He took two touches towards goal and buried the ball near post past the keeper. The halftime score was 2-1. The second half was just as dominant for the Cougars.  However, the Falcons challenged them time and time again.  Fran Linares, the Cougar's #1, parried two balls out and away from danger.  Luckily, the Cougars were able to keep their marginal lead when the Falcons struck the post midway through the half as well.  With the time winding down, the Cougars were able to keep the Falcons out of their defensive third and moved into the final as the final whistle blew.  The final score was 2-1 as well.  The CRAL Finals will be Thursday after school and TEMS will play Illing for the Championship.

  • Congratulations to the girls cross country team for becoming league champions last night at the CRAL meet in Charter Oak Park in Manchester.  The top ten TE runners that qualified to run in the meet were Jana Brownbill, Rachel Matyschsyk, Akithmi Koththigoda, Greta Johnson, Erin Fang, Charlotte Zhang, Brenna Klaus, Jozie Waniewski, Mia DeLany, and Jane Carty.  The entire team ran impressive times all finishing in the top half of the league's fastest runners.  Medals went out to the top 15 runners in the race including Charlotte in 15th, Erin in 11th, Greta in 10th, Akithmi in 6th, Rachel in 5th, and Jana in 4th.  That's a whole lotta hardware TE, way to go!!  The Cougars look forward to competing in the state meet at Wickham Park on Saturday, November 5th.  Best of luck, runners!
  • The TEMS lady Cougars soccer team defeated JFK yesterday in a physical match with a final score of 3-1. The Cougar's came out firing on all cylinders putting JFK under immediate pressure with the relentless efforts from Annabel Abooken and Gianna DiSalvatore. The opener came off the left foot of Lilly Jaworski who's stunning shot looped over the goalie and dropped into the back of the net. With about a minute left in the half, Kylah Wood threaded a pass deep behind the JFK line, and Alina Zajac was able to swiftly beat her defender and slot the ball into the side of the net. In the second half, the Cougar's scored again with the play of the game coming from Allison Marques, who lofted a free kick dropping the ball into the 18 yard box, which was poked in by Abigail Ambooken. Shortly after, JFK answered with a goal of the own, but it wasn't enough to turn the tide. The Cougars were busy defending in the second half, but Shea Brochu, Ari Flores, Jenna Martin, Julia Thorne, and Nora Carty were always there to clean up the pieces and rally the attack. Goalkeeper's Hannah Kowalchik and Olivia Lopez each had a pair of saves on the day and continued to make the right distributions moving forward. The Cougar's look forward to hosting the playoffs next week with a record of 11-0-1.
  • On Tuesday night, the Boys soccer team played host to the Suffield Wildcats and came away with the 2-0 victory.  An early penalty shout opened the scoring for the Cougars as Blake Lyons finished it calmly into the back of the net.  The rest of the half was one sided with the Cougars maintaining most of the possession though they couldn't find another breakthrough.  The second half was more of the same, until Liam Staroverov finished his chance from short range off an assist from Brody Jurczyk.Last night the Cougars traveled to Enfield to take on JFK in their final CRAL regular season contest.  The wind was howling and it was tough for the Cougars to get a grip on the game. The first half was dominated by the Cougars but they couldn’t penetrate the Patriot defense. The few chances they created were not consistent enough to break through! The second half was even better. With the wind at their backs, the Cougars denied their opponents time and time again, only allowing them to cross half field a handful of times. Early in the half, Liam Staroverov bounced in a ball in the box to make it 1-0. About 10 minutes later, Jack Cinxo laid the ball off to Blake Lyons who buried his chance from 16 yards out. Defensively, the Cougars were led by Falton Crane, Sam Velasquez, Mason Smith and David Nise. Aidan Matus and Brody Jurczyk also contributed in securing the shutout. Fran Linares had little to do but made good decisions when the ball was played back to him. The Cougars finish the regular season 10-1-1 and will be the number one seed entering the playoffs. They will host the #4 seed on Tuesday after school.

  • The boys cross country team hosted Sage Park on Tuesday, October 25th. From the start, Sage Park's lead runner set the tone for the race.  TE's Jeffery Zeng was in hot pursuit of first place, but Sage Park's lead runner never gave up his spot. Zeng would come in second place, followed by TE's 4th place finish by Erik Edstrom.  Sage Park's runners would finish 5th and 6th, followed by Karthik Srikumar's seventh-place finish. TE's runners would then finish 8th - 22nd before another Sage Park runner would finish.  Despite that, it wasn't enough to win the meet.  TE lost by three points to Sage Park's 27-point win. TE's effort would not go unnoticed.  Sam Franklin, Tejas Shankar, and Nate Chilberg are a few athletes that had a great meet.  Congrats to all the runners and best of luck on Thursday at the CRAL Championship.
  • A big congratulations to the girls cross country team for wrapping up the season with an undefeated record of 5 wins and 0 losses.  The Cougars had a near perfect score of 15-49 against Sage Park of Windsor with TE taking 7 of the top 10 spots in the race.  Akithmi Koththigoda, a front runner in all races this season, came in 4th place overall with another speedy and well paced race. The standout performance of the night was a top 10 runner named Charlotte Zeng who finished in 6th overall.  Charlotte battled it out to the very end beating out Sage Park's #1 runner just before the finish.  Kashvi Bagga maintained focus and showed excellent endurance throughout the race as did Anvitha Jayavarapu who once again powered it all the way through the finish.  Great work to all runners!  The team looks forward to their league championship meet this Thursday at Charter Oak Park in Manchester.  Best of luck to all those running!
  • The field hockey team had a more evenly matched game against Granby but fell short with a score of  4-1. Tori Yelle had a nice goal from an assist by Prithi Suriyakumarr.  Maggie Melia and Violette DesRocher came off the bench and played stellar defense along with Kendall Woods for the cougars.  Sarah Bonanno, Morgan Syme, Kylie Duval, and Ainslee Deptula excelled on offense but just couldnt find the back of the net.  TE's last game is tomorrow away vs Suffield.
