Good Morning TE,
As you know, Wednesday, March 14th has been publicized as a day to stand against school violence. With student and staff safety as our focus, Timothy Edwards Middle School is planning a structured indoor activity.
Our seventeen minute activity will take place in students’ homerooms at 8:05 a.m. Students and teachers will develop a list of seventeen ways in which we can promote a community of kindness, acceptance and safety at TEMS. At the end of seventeen minutes, all classes will walk out into the hallway and stand, with their respective lists, while a song is playing to symbolize our commitment to promoting kindness at TEMS. Afterward, students, you will continue with your scheduled classes. We will, however, pause to observe a moment of silence at 10:00 a.m. to honor the victims of Parkland, Florida.
Our strive for five values are centered on kindness, respect, responsibility, honesty and caring. We believe that this safe, structured activity is an age appropriate, effective and positive way to honor communities around the country affected by school violence.
I am hoping that you will all wear your unifying color by grade level. So, students in grade six - wear green, grade seven - wear red and grade eight - wear blue.
Let’s honor all people affected by school violence by living OUR 17 and always striving for five.
Have a great day and do your best!

- This past Saturday; Aryan Kalia, Yunfei Zheng, Michael Ngo, Jaideep Naik, Pranav Ramesh, and Tim Sigler decided to do some math problems at the University of Hartford. The occasion was the Connecticut State MathCounts competition. The boys represented TE, competing against 18 of the top schools in the state. In total, approximately 150 schools from Connecticut participate in the MathCounts program. At the end of the day, the TE Team of Aryan, Yunfei, Jaideep, and Michael were announced as the Number 1 MathCounts Team in the state of Connecticut! Not only did the TE team take top honors, Aryan Kalia placed first in the very intense head to head competition part of the program. It was an amazing year of MathCounts at TE.
