- Every Thursday during lunch the school store is open! You can buy Erasers, Jibbitz and Water Bottle stickers all for less than a dollar. You can also buy wired earbuds, hair brushes, Rubix Cubes, Popits and Chapstick! But you can only buy from the school store on Thursday's during lunch, so be sure to stop by before the end of the school year!
- The 2023-2024 issue of Out of the Blue is now available. We are super excited to share this, our 13th edition, with you. It might be our best issue yet! The magazine, which is a website, can be found on the TE homepage. Some of your teachers may have also posted it in their Google Classrooms. Please make sure to congratulate any of your peers who worked on the magazine or who contributed a submission. There is so much talent at TE. There is even a place to give us feedback to share your ideas for a future year's submission. Lastly, Ms. Olsen wants to send a major shoutout to the myth, the legend, the lunkhead, the pen cap aficionado, the number one KG: Ishanvi Mohapatra. She put hours into this year's website sharing her talent and making the website the best it could be. This year's magazine would not have happened without her. If you know her, be sure to tell her GOOD JOB! Please also be sure to congratulate Divya Nukavarapu who made this year's beautiful cover art. All of Out of the Blue hopes you enjoy this year's issue.
- Congrats to the girls' track team as they won their third meet in a row with scores of 84 TE, 15 Ellington, and 2 JFK. They took first place in every single event, minus the discus! Many athletes set personal records including: Kiran Thaker who ran 1600 in 5:45, taking 5th place in our TE Top Ten Recordbook, Iulia L, throwing 59'3" in the discus, Jana Brownbill taking 1st in both the 400 and 800-meter runs, and Morgan Bridgeforth taking 1st place in the 100 and 200 sprints. Congrats to all! Their next meet will be on Monday at SWHS. Come down and cheer on the team!
- The boys track and field team journeyed to Ellington to compete against Ellington and JFK. The boys came away with win, beating both teams by more than 30 points. Aniron P, Carter G and Dave N swept the Shot Put. Luis L, Nebeyu E, and Fahad F swept the Long Jump. The 4 X 400 and 4 X 800 relay teams dominated their races. Liam S took first place in High Jump. Maanit P snagged 2nd in the hurdles. Timmy C took 2nd in the 800. Alex L continued his strong season in the 400, earning 2nd. The boys face off against Sage Park at home on Monday. Come to the high school and cheer them on. Go Cougars!

- The Connecticut Writing Project, hosted by UConn, has announced its winners. Over 100 TE students spent several months working with teachers in the building to craft a piece of fiction, nonfiction, poetry or art. Here are results for the sixth grade winners from TE!

- Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Wednesday, May 1.
- The TE baseball team had a come from behind victory on Tuesday afternoon against Ellington...final score was TE 10 and Ellington 4. The Cougars received a solid pitching performance from Tyler Poland through four innings, but offensively they could not score. Entering the top of the 6th inning, the Cougars were down by two runs, but they erupted for three runs in the 6th and six runs in the 7th inning to seal the victory. Dominic Luangpraseuth pitched the last three innings to pick up the victory. He struck out six of the last eight batters he faced to end the game. Leading the offensive charge was Ethan Pugrab with a single, double and two RBI. Kasper Kaczkowski added two singles and an RBI in the victory. TE improves to 3 and 2 on the season and will travel to Sage Park next Tuesday.
- The softball team took home another victory yesterday against Ellington Middle School, beating them 19 to four. TE scored 12 of those 19 runs in the first two innings. Katelyn Bousquet stepped up her pitching game again with 5 strikeouts in addition to hitting another double again. Claire Kaminski, Arianna Coco, Alivia Gliha, Raegan Burnham, Meghan Donovan, Kendall Woods, Gemma Duhamel and Josie Tomkunas all chipped in a hit. Catcher Daphne Specht had a great game behind plate and batted 2 for 3 with one of those hits being a double. Congratulations ladies! TE plays Sage Park Middle School on Tuesday, May 7th, here at TE. This will be quite the game to watch so come on out and cheer them on!

- Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Tuesday, April 30.
- The softball team won their game yesterday against East Hartford Middle School with a score of 21 to 2 in 5 innings. Katelyn Bousquet pitched the whole game allowing only 5 hits. In addition she hit her first double of the season. Catcher Daphne Specht did her job well behind the plate and batted one for four. Amanda Donovan, Riley Quigley, Raegan Burnham, Gemma Duhamel, and Alivia Gliha all added hits to help TE take the win. TE hosts Ellington Middle School today after school. Come out and support the TEMS softball team! Good luck ladies!
- The TE baseball team traveled to East Hartford on Monday afternoon and the warm weather brought the bats alive. The Cougars pounded out 17 hits enroute to a 21 to 7 victory. Tyler Poland had three hits, including two doubles and three RBI. AJ Bryson, Torin Edwards, Kasper Kaczkowski, Matt Wojnilo and Ethan Pugrab added 2 hits each. TE improves to 2 and 2 on the season. The boys travel to Ellington today. Good luck Cougars!
- The lady Cougars track team had another excellent meet yesterday! They dominated their opponents with the final scores: TE: 81, Tolland: 20, JFK: 14. Many girls had their personal best, and four broke into our TE Top Ten Records. Kiran Thacker now holds 6th Place in the 1600 with a time of 5:50. Zoe Bailey holds 6th place in shot put with a throw of 32'2". Two girls broke into the long jump records. Doreen Nise now holds 7th place with an impressive jump of 14'2.5" and Elise Glunt takes 10th place with 3'8". Congrats girls! The track team heads to Ellington on Thursday. Wish the ladies luck!
- On Monday, the boys track and field team hosted JFK and Tolland on Monday and came away with a resounding victory over both teams. Luis L. was strong for the sprinting group, winning the 100, 200 and Long Jump - while setting a record for his long jump with 18 feet, 5 inches. Timmy C placed 2nd in the hurdles. Dave N stepped up for shot put and earned 3rd place. Alex L set a new personal best in the 400 and jumped into the TE Top Ten. Jeff Z swept all 4 of his events with a first place finish. Zayd S gutted out his 800 through cramps, then helped the 4 by 400 team along with Alex L and Adam E finish in 1st. A lot of incredible performances from the boys. On to Ellington on Thursday. Go Cougars!

- Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Monday, April 29.
- On Friday April 26th, the TEMS (GOLD) Mock Trial team traveled to New Britain Superior Court to compete in the eight team middle school playoffs. The TEMS team won both rounds of trials and have qualified for the State Championship on Thursday, May 9th at the Appellate Court in Hartford! Great job TEAM and good luck in the Finals!!
- On Saturday April 27th, two TEMS Debaters participated in multiple rounds of debate at the Reverend Stanley Lord Invitational Tournament at the University of Bridgeport. Aarna Jaggi and Shreenika Patil teamed up for this EXTEMP [no prep] contest. The team advanced to the quarterfinals but ended their day in that playoff round. In addition, Aarna was named 2nd Place Overall Speaker [out of 50 debaters] receiving a medal for her performance and Shreenika finished as the number 10 speaker for the event. Way to go Aarna and Shreenika!!
- Out of the Blue will meet on Monday, April 29 immediately after school in Ms. Olsen's room. It is very important all members attend as we make final decisions on this year's magazine.

See Mrs. McAvoy or Mrs. Roy if you have any questions. Spots are limited and available on a first come, first served basis.

- Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Friday, April 26.
- Congrats to our girl's track team on their AMAZING first track meet! On Wednesday, the girls headed to Manchester to battle Illing, winning the meet 55-32. Each girl did their best- with many girls achieving their personal best. Not only that, but multiple girls broke into our TE TOP TEN Record book! CONGRATS to Ella Danielle, who now holds the 9th place spot in the Long Jump with a jump of 13'9". And the 4x800 team consists of Greta Johnson, Kiran Thacker, Ali Kupec, and Aleska Zajac, who now hold 3rd place with a time of 11 minutes and 1 second. Another shout out to our girls' 4x100 team: Morgan Bridgeforth, Ella Daniele, Kyla Levy, and Zoe Bailey, which took 1st place with a time of 55.73. Overall, it was a wonderful day. The Lady Cougars' next meet is at home on Monday. Good luck, girls!
- On Wednesday, the Boys Track and Field Team traveled to Manchester High School to compete against Illing. After only 5 practices, the boys made a valiant effort, but came up short, losing 24-76. Illing was able to sweep multiple events, but the TE boys had some strong showings. Luis L earned 1st place in the Long Jump with a jump of 17 feet. He also cracked the TE Top Ten. Liam S had one of his best jumps, earning 2nd place in the Long Jump. Jeff Z had a strong day for the distance group, finishing 1st in the 800 meter run and 2nd in the mile run. Alex L ran a great 400, finishing 3rd overall. Aniron P placed 3rd in Shot Put and Carter G was the top discus thrower for TE in his first ever competition. The boys go up against JFK and Tolland on Monday at home at South Windsor High School. If you're around, come out and check out the meet! Go Cougars!
- The TE baseball team suffered it's second loss of the season on Thursday vs. Illing. Dash Hayes had two singles for TE and Kasper Kaczkowski chipped in with a single and RBI in the loss. TE plays at East Hartford on Monday. Good luck boys!
- The softball team won their game yesterday against Illing Middle School with a score of 25 to 1, in 5 innings. TE had their best game of hitting so far. Amanda Donovan, Lila Sheridan, and Josie Tomkunas each had 3 hits. First baseman Raegan Burnham also had three hits, with two of those hits being doubles. Third baseman Gemma Duhamel added 2 hits as well. TE has two home games next week on Monday and Tuesday. Come out and support them! Great job ladies and good luck!

- TEMS hosted the Connecticut Democracy Center's Middle School Debate Tournament on Wednesday evening. Eight teams from the tournament advanced to the Championship Playoffs with five (5) TEMS teams advancing to the Playoffs [to be held on Wednesday May 8th at the Old State House]. TEMS teams that advanced include the teams of: Jayden Chen and Atharv Save, Gian Handa and Suvan Mantha, Nevin Joseph and Jaden Shiju, Shreenika Patil and Ananya Save, and Suhani Kapil and Aarav Pruthi.

- TEMS hosted the Connecticut Democracy Center's Middle School Debate Tournament on Wednesday evening. All debate teams participated in two rounds of debate before the Awards Ceremony which saw TEMS sweep the Top 5 Speaker awards including:
- 5th Place Speaker: Anvi Panat
- 4th place Speaker Aarav Pruthi
- 3rd Place Speaker: Shreenika Patil
- 2nd Place Speaker: Aarna Jaggi
- 1st Place over all Top Speaker of the evening - The Great and Powerful Suhani Kapil
- The softball team had quite a game yesterday against Suffield. The game ended after the top of the 5th with a score of 24 to 3. Amanda Donovan, Katelyn Bousquet, Raegan Burnham, Gemma Duhamel, and Kendall Woods added one hit each; Maria Puniello had 2 hits which included her first double of the season, Riley Quigley hit her first homerun of the season, Claire Kaminski and Josie Tomkunas had 2 hits each. Daphne Specht and Alivia Gliha each hit a double and Julia Baron hit her first triple of the season. The Lady Cougars travel to Manchester today to take on Illing Middle School. Good luck!

- Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Wednesday, April 24.
- The TE baseball team suffered it's first loss of the season on Tuesday afternoon...final score was JFK 14 TE 6. The Cougars jumped out to a 6 to 0 lead after an inning and a half, but the bats became silent after this. TE was led by Brayden Kearney, Dash Hayes and Lucas Paauwe. All three had a single and one RBI. Colin LeDoux also added a single for the Cougars. TE's next game is against Illing on Thursday afternoon.
- The softball team lost their game yesterday against JFK. The final score was 5 to 3. TE opened the first inning inning with a one to nothing start. Lila Sheridan got on base and was advanced by Riley Quigley's hit and then scored on Gemma Duhamel's single. TE didn't score another run until the bottom of the seventh. Daphne Specht hit a double to start the 7th inning. Raegan Burnham walked and then Josie Tomkunas hit a double to score both Daphne and Raegan, but the next 3 batters got out. There's always next time! TE hosts their first home game of the season today after school around 3:45 against Suffield Middle School. Come on out and support them! Good luck!

- It’s that time of year again- time to take part in helping choose the 2024 Intermediate and Middle School Nutmeg Book Award winners. The Nutmeg Book Award is chosen by students in grades 4 to 8 throughout the state and represents our state book award. You must have read at least one or more of the current Nutmeg nominees in either category to be eligible to vote AND can only vote once per category. Voting will end on Friday, April 26th. - Yes, three strikes in a row....that's a turkey! The outdoor education group will be going bowling after school on Thursday, May 2nd after school at Spare Time in Vernon. Cost is $15 which includes cost of bowling and shoe rentals. Permission slips are available outside room 263 (Mrs. McAvoy's room in the Sage team hallway). See Mrs. McAvoy or Mrs. Roy if you have any questions. Spots are limited and available on a first come, first served basis.
- It’s that time of year again- time to take part in helping choose the 2024 Intermediate and Middle School Nutmeg Book Award winners. The Nutmeg Book Award is chosen by students in grades 4 to 8 throughout the state and represents our state book award. You must have read at least one or more of the current Nutmeg nominees in either category to be eligible to vote AND can only vote once per category. Voting will end on Friday, April 26th.Cast your vote online by visiting the main LMC page; make sure you have a say in this year’s Nutmeg Book Award Winner! Thanks and have a great day!

- Welcome back to another edition of TETV Morning News. Today is Monday, April 22.
- The TE baseball team opened up it's season on a chilly Friday afternoon and surged to a 14 to 3 victory over Ellington. The Cougar offense pounded out 11 hits in the win. Leading the way was Nolan Carling with a double, single and RBI. Dash Hayes had two hits and two RBI, AJ Bryson had two hits and one RBI and Brayden Kearney chipped in with a single and three RBI. On the mound, Tyler Poland and Torin Edwards limited the Wildcats to three hits while striking out eight batters. TE plays at JFK in Enfield on Tuesday afternoon. Good luck boys!
- The softball team opened their season with a 13 to nothing victory over Ellington Middle School on Friday. TE was walked a lot, which gave them ample opportunities to score and work on that baserunning. Third baseman, Gemma Duhamel hit her first triple of the season. Raegan Burnham, Lila Sheridan, and Julia Baron added hits as well. Pitcher Josie Tomkunas dominated on the mound, striking out 13 of the 18 batters she faced. Catcher Daphne Specht had herself a game behind the plate. Congratulations ladies! TE travels to Enfield tomorrow to take on JFK Middle School. Good luck!
- We would like to share a great big congratulations to Lilah Gartman, who was chosen as a winner of the “Make A Change” mini grant! She submitted a plan to help clean up the area around the pond at TE, as well as the grounds, to help the animals and the environment. S. W. Youth and Family, along with S.W. Alliance For Families, congratulates Lilah on this exciting honor. Thanks, Lilah, for making positive change in our community!
