A reminder to students attending the Providence College visit at 12:30 today - this will take place in the Media Center Seminar Room instead of the Career Center. For any students curious about fall open houses, stop into the Career Center. Many of them are advertised on posters throughout the room.

-The Girls Varsity Soccer team beat Avon yesterday by a score of 2-1. Rachel Coulter scored on an assist from Jaylene Ferrabelo in the first half and Karly Suppicich had the game winner in the second. Rachel Drouin and Maddie Westfall had outstanding performances for the Bobcats, while Jianna Mitchell had 7 saves to preserve the win. The girls’ next game will be Thursday night against Tolland, match start time will be 6PM.

Athletic News:
All three girls’ volleyball teams had tough matches at home last night vs. East Hartford. The freshmen team lost a close one 2-1, JV won 2-1 after making a big comeback in the 2nd game, and varsity won 3-1 with a score of 30-28 in a comeback win in game 3. The team will be home again tomorrow vs. Windsor. Good luck to the team; hope to see you in the stands cheering!

South Windsor For the Kids is having its first meeting this Wednesday after school from 2:00-2:20pm in the seminar room. -Girls’ field hockey defeated Newington in a 7-0 shutout. The team will play against East Catholic tomorrow at East Catholic.
-The girls' varsity soccer team opened their season on Friday with a victory over Manchester. Karly Suppicich led the Bobcats with a Hat Trick, Lindsay Fishman added a tally of her own, while Jaylene Ferrabelo and Olivia Besthoff provided assists. Nicole Grasso has a nice outing defensively. Jianna Mitchell and Molly Carroll combined for 6 saves. The girls’ next game is tomorrow against East Hartford.
-Congratulations to the girls’ volleyball team for their well-played matches at Manchester Friday night. The freshmen team lost a close game to lose 2-0, JV won 2-1, and varsity posted a 3-0 win which included a big comeback in Game 1. The team will host East Hartford tonight for their season home opener with a JV/freshmen team start time of 4pm with the varsity match to follow. Good luck to the team, and we hope to see you there!

College visits will begin Monday! These are an excellent way for you to explore colleges, ask personal questions, and make an impression on a counselor who will be reading your application. Representatives from Suffolk University, Elms College, and Rivier University will all be in the Career Center this coming Monday, September 11th. Check the listings in Naviance for specific times and to sign up to attend these visits. If you are not sure how to do this, please see Mrs. Carty for assistance.
Tufts University offers students from underrepresented communities an overnight visit to campus and the opportunity to experience all facets of college life. The Voices of Tufts Diversity Experiences take place during two sessions in October – one for engineering and one for arts and sciences. If you are interested in this program, please see Mrs. Carty in the Career Center for details. Applications are due in early October.

The admissions staffs of Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, Penn, and Stanford will collaborate on an information session entitled "Exploring College Options" on Wednesday, September 27th at 7 p.m. in Farmington. Students interested in attending may register at www.exploringcollegeoptions.org. An informational flyer is posted on the Programs and Events bulletin board in the Career Center.
Students interested in attending upcoming fall college fairs can check out posters hanging outside School Counseling or on the Programs and Events bulletin board in the Career Center. The NEACAC college fair takes place this Sunday, September 10th at Western New England University in Springfield and the NACAC fair takes place the following Sunday, September 17th in Boston.
