Festival of the Arts 2023

The litany of talented acts at this year’s South Huntington Festival of the Arts truly shined a light on the district’s distinct Fine Arts program. Parents and community members, with South Huntington’s young musicians, poets and artists leading the way, enjoyed a gallery-like setting where the creativity of our students could be marveled and appreciated through an array of musical acts and performances.
 
 
Spectators were also welcomed into Walt Whitman’s South Cafeteria, displaying a number of  beautiful pieces of student artwork while enjoying many musical and live performances from a variety of students across all grade levels. The featured acts included Stimson’s Jazz Choir, Birchwood and Maplewood’s combined choral groups, the Silas Wood Strings, Whitman’s Varsity Dance Team, Step Team, Latino Heritage Club, WWHS Theater and Chorale, and much much more. The courtyard outside of Whitman’s South Cafeteria gave performers and spectators plenty of fresh air and space to enjoy the many talented acts by our students on the beautiful afternoon.
 
 
A heartfelt thank you goes out to South Huntington's amazing team of teachers, administrators, artists, musicians, vocalists, dancers, poets and actors whose talents created a spectacular Festival of the Arts event for 2023! A special thank you to our Facilities Department, who without their efforts and hard work, this Festival could not have been made possible. Bravo to all whose talents and dedication provided an extraordinary celebration of the Arts! We appreciate the dedication all have shown to keep arts in South Huntington alive and well.
 
 
 
 
 
Countrywood's theatre program opened up the evening with the sweetest performance.
 
 
 
 
Whitman's dance program performed to give audience members a taste of what to expect at their upcoming dance concert and 20th anniversary celebration.
 
 
 
 
The South Cafeteria was lined with original student artwork from all grade levels.
 
 
 
 
Walt Whitman's and Stimson's Jazz Bands joined together for a group performance.
 
 
 
 
The festival featured original poetry from high school students, including Senior Maddie Franz.
 
 
 
The combined Maplewood and Birchwood Orchestra was one of many fabulous performing groups at this highly anticipated annual event!
