A group of Walt Whitman students recently attended the LILTA (Long Island Latino Teachers Association) Men’s Conference 2024 hosted by Stony Brook University. Out of the 18 young men who attended, three are from the Project Excel program and 15 are ENL students. The boys attended two panels each, composed of a variety of professionals who come to share their stories. They come from different fields such as the arts, education, social work, health, technology, communications, journalism, sports, law, politics and business. Their stories are meant to inspire students to complete their secondary studies and get their college degree.
Whitman’s young men were very engaged, asking questions and speaking with the various professionals during the open session portion of the conference.
We’re very proud of these students for their participation! They arrived with professionalism and were recognized for how presentable they were. Thank you to those who participated in this year’s conference and to Mr. Graciani for helping to coordinate and seeing to the success of these students!
