October 25, 2021

13 members and guest attended the meeting at Grace Lutheran Church 7th and Chestnut Streets, Shamokin, PA.

President Erik Anderson ’97 called the meeting to order at 6:30pm.

President Erik Anderson ‘97 called for a moment of silence for all members of the Alumni Association.

PRINCIPAL’SREPORT:  no report at this time.

SECRETARY’S REPORT:  minutes from April 22, 2021 meeting are on the website for review.  Jeff Clutcher ’78 made a motion to accept the report and Mary Anne Pitorak Miller ‘74 seconded the motion.  All were in favor.

TREASURER’S REPORT:  Gregory Dwulet ’68, provided an update:

General checking balance = $10,858.61

Educational checking balance = $26,320.21

The alumni association received $1,600 from the Helen Jane Murphy ’43 estate.

Greg reported a new scholarship request for $2,000 from JoAnn and Robert Carr ’54.  It would be for 2 seniors – one boy, one girl – and would be associated with athletics.  While they wanted the principle untouched moving forward, the amount it would generate yearly to support would be minimal.  More discussion needs to occur to see what can be done to provide $100 award per person.

  • Bruce Clutcher ‘72 to look into criteria for the award.
  • Bob Mattis ‘68 to investigate the legal aspects if we can use the principle for funding.
  • John Clutcher ‘74 to pull together a policy for review which supports a $100 minimum distribution per student.

John Klinger ’68 made a motion to accept the report and H. Robert Mattis ’68, seconded the motion.  All were in favor.

COMMUNICATIONS:  none at this time.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Entertainment:  Mary Anne Brennan Stump ’00 provide an email update as follows: members of the chorus or 2022 musical cast will provide entertainment at the 2022 banquet.

Invitations/Newsletters:  Mary Anne Brennan Stump ’00 report the following via email -- last year's newsletter production went very smoothly with Paulhamus Litho, once everything was completed, we had a hold up for a week or two with the mailing process.  It seemed that most newsletters were still received in ample time for banquet reservations to be made, etc., but I may send out the first requests for information a little earlier this year (right after the winter holidays) to try to get a jump start in anticipation of the mail still being sluggish.  My schedule will also be fuller this year after the holidays since school has been running normally, and most of the newsletter work happens at the same time as PMEA festival season.

Programs:  nothing to report at this time.

Auditing:  position is open and needs to be filled.

Awards:  nothing to report at this time.
