Science Tool Theory and Evidence Homework for 8/23/10

Students were shown a piece of mystery science equipment that we received from the UC Berkeley Physics Department.  Students are developing theories of what the piece of science equipment does, and supporting their theory with evidence from their observations.

Supplies needed for class due Monday, August 23

 Every day, students need:

  • Organized 3-ring binder with labeled science section (or dedicated science binder)
  • 2 or more pencils, or a mechanical pencil with supply of extra lead
  • At least 10 pieces of loose binder paper (not ripped from a spiral-bound notebook)
  • 8th graders: A calculator (simple inexpensive one is fine)
  • A good attitude

At home, you need:

  • A ruler with centimeters
  • Phone numbers of 2 students in class
  • Scissors
  • Coloring equipment (pens, pencils or crayons)
  • Quiet place to study
  • A time every day to get your homework done
