Report on Surplus Property
BACKGROUND: Board Policy 3280 Section 1.2 states:
When required by law, the board shall appoint a district advisory committee to advise the Board in the development of policies and procedures governing the use or disposition of schools or school building space which is not needed for school purposes. (Education code 17389)
On June 4, 2007, the superintendent requested authorization from the Governing Board to establish a District Facility Advisory Committee/7-11 Committee to study the surplus properties in the San Rafael City Schools. This committee was established by the Board who appointed members in accordance with theEducation Code Section 17389 on June 18, 2007.
The District Facility Advisory Committee held meetings from August 2007 through March 2008 and a Public Hearing was held on February 27, 2008 to provide an opportunity for community input. Though this process, the committee has completed a report which includes the input from the community, and their conclusions and recommendations regarding the following properties: MacPhail, Old Gallinas, Davidson Annex, Short School and the Corporation Yard.
