While he was growing up, I observed a special trait in this boy – one of genuine thoughtfulness and caring for people…a trait that would eventually culminate in his exemplary leadership role in the field of education. But no matter what vocation Ryan was destined for, his strong character and redoubtable people skills would not only pay huge dividends for himself, but also for those surrounding him. As a son, father, husband and educator, Ryan has set the bar of achievement and influence to lofty heights. I am only too proud to be Ryan’s uncle……..and great admirer. Respectfully – John Marshall

Congratulations to you all. What a wonderful job you did, especially bringing this all together while distanced from each other. Loved it! I can’t wait to see Moana Jr. in May!

Students benefit from sharing their ideas and considering and building on the ideas of others.

Comment on Principal Profile – March 2020 – Ryan Emery by Todd Schroeder https://rioschools.org/principal-profile-march-2020-ryan-emery/#comment-4623 Sun, 15 Mar 2020 17:17:08 +0000 http://simplistic-hope.flywheelsites.com/?p=25776#comment-4623 This was nice to read, Ryan. I enjoyed reading your comments on how you’ve changed over the years of administration. Your ideas on how to lead completely match mine today. I tried to lead that way while we worked together at CHS. Thanks for doing what you’re doing now and for leading a school through growth and change. I wish you the best in the future.

Your friend and colleague,

Todd Schroeder

Comment on 2020 a Collaborative Post – Melissa Wantz (T.O.S.A.) & JP (SUPT.) by Faviana Hirsch-Dubin https://rioschools.org/2020-a-collaborative-post-melissa-wantz-t-o-s-a-jp-supt/#comment-4496 Wed, 08 Jan 2020 19:40:16 +0000 http://simplistic-hope.flywheelsites.com/?p=25031#comment-4496 A great discussion to be having! 2020 does provoke wide ranging thought. Those two twenties side by side seems significant, as JP & Melissa were exploring.
Another piece to add to this discussion, from a Mayan perspective, is what I just learned from a Mayan colleague in Chiapas, Mexico a few days ago. He said they see 2020 as duality of time. Turns out there is a duality of time theory. Can’t explain here. But fascinating.
Last point. I agree with Beth about 2020 bringing a sense of possibility & change. Perhaps we need to actively bring that into being.

2020
101 years
1919
Year of turbulence, year of disruption, year of division (after “the war to end all wars”), year of hatred expressed in some quarters
In this country
2020
Is this the year of potential?
Of hope?
Of redemption?
Of change?
101 years later
I hope so!!!!

Reading through the many thanks makes me realize the scope & breadth of this undertaking. No small thing to achieve. Collaboration of so many people, talents, knowledge, creativity, and more. Students definitely at the center, as it should be.
Let’s keep making the dreams into reality.
Impressive!!
