Walker Governor\u2019s School We the People Team has placed second in\u00a0the nation in The Citizen and the Constitution National\u00a0Finals, which\u00a0took place Monday, April 27<sup>th<\/sup> in Washington, DC. The 2015 competition marks the 9<sup>th<\/sup> time Maggie Walker has finished in the top three since 2003 (2011 and 2003 National Champions).\u00a0 Additionally, Walker\u2019s Unit 1 won the prestigious Magna Carta Award for the highest score in the nation on the Magna Carta question.<\/p>\n<p>We the People team members study a broad range of topics related to\u00a0American government and constitutionalism and prepare for simulated\u00a0congressional\u00a0hearings, during which judges question and score units based\u00a0on knowledge and articulation.<\/p>\n<p>The National Finals marked the end of months of study and hard-won\u00a0first place finishes at the district level and state level for the team.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Walker We the People team is fortunate to receive support from the Governor\u2019s School Foundation and particular support from corporate sponsors the New Market Foundation, the MeadWestvaco Foundation, Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP, Tailored Touches, and Geoff McDonald and Associates.<\/p>\n<p>http:\/\/www.civiced.org\/programs\/wtp<\/p>\n<p>Maggie Walker We the People team is coached by Social Studies teacher and alumnus Sam Ulmschneider (Class of \u201902):<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>Maggie L.
