{"id":28333,"date":"2014-12-12T15:52:19","date_gmt":"2014-12-12T20:52:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mlwgs.com\/?p=28333"},"modified":"2014-12-12T15:52:19","modified_gmt":"2014-12-12T20:52:19","slug":"mil-wigs-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mlwgs.com\/mil-wigs-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Mil-wigs Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Happy Holidays, everyone.\u00a0 There are a few pieces of information that I would like to share.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Glorious MLWGS PTSA<\/strong> hosted our annual faculty\/staff holiday luncheon today.\u00a0 In addition to being too humble to allow me to list their names or include their photo, our PTSA includes some highly gifted culinary artists!\u00a0 Our faculty and staff enjoyed quite a spread of homemade dishes and desserts.\u00a0 We are indeed fortunate to be part of such a wonderful and supportive community of parents!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mlwgs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/IMG_0653.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-28335 aligncenter lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mlwgs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/IMG_0653.jpg?resize=262%2C197&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"IMG_0653\" width=\"262\" height=\"197\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mlwgs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/IMG_0653.jpg?w=2048&amp;ssl=1 2048w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mlwgs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/IMG_0653.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mlwgs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/IMG_0653.jpg?resize=1024%2C768&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mlwgs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/IMG_0653.jpg?resize=240%2C180&amp;ssl=1 240w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mlwgs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/IMG_0653.jpg?resize=357%2C268&amp;ssl=1 357w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 262px) 100vw, 262px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 262px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 262\/197;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Counseling Department<\/strong> is still awaiting receipt of PSAT score reports.\u00a0 On Friday December 12<sup>th<\/sup>, the College Board stated that our PSAT score results were still being processed and had not yet been shipped. \u00a0We are aware that some other area schools have received their score reports.\u00a0\u00a0 College Board has indicated that score reports are shipped out in batches and that ours could be sent with a batch in the middle of the week of December 15<sup>th<\/sup>. \u00a0Unfortunately, this means it is unlikely that PSAT score results will be available before the winter break.\u00a0 If the scores do arrive before break begins, the counseling department will prioritize score distribution to juniors so that they may begin preparing for SATs over winter break.\u00a0 Otherwise, scores will be distributed during lunchtime assemblies in January.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>MLWGS Advocacy Group<\/strong> in partnership with <strong>EduPAC<\/strong> hosted a legislative coffee during which students engaged with local legislators in advance of the 2015 Virginia General Assembly Session and Capital Day.\u00a0 We remain hopeful that such political action at the state level will help to protect k-12 education in our region and across the Commonwealth as the Governor&#8217;s budget amendments make their way through the General Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Director&#8217;s Circle Foundation Event<\/strong> was hosted this week at VCU&#8217;s Scott House.\u00a0 A special thank you is in order for Samantha Marrs for her generosity in securing this wonderful venue for the event and to the foundation staff for coordinating a wonderful evening.\u00a0 In addition to hearing from our School Board Chair (Kevin Hazzard, Goochland) another highlight of the evening was hearing from Miss. Reed Canaan and Miss.
