Voters on Tuesday supported the district’s proposed budget and each of its propositions, including a $6.085 million capital improvement project.

The Red Hook Faculty Association will give away nearly 1,000 children’s books and Lego boxes at Saturday’s Apple Blossom Day in honor of Martha Strever.

The annual district budget vote and school board election will be held May 20. In addition to the budget, residents will be asked to choose two candidates to fill vacant seats on the Board of Education and decide on four propositions.

The Red Hook Central School District is proposing a $6.085 million capital improvement project featuring broad reconstruction of the main athletic field at its high and middle schools utilizing a grass surface.

Families who submitted an initial interest survey must register by April 4 to secure a seat and can attend an info session.

The bus purchases would be of little cost to local taxpayers thanks to grants and state aid reimbursement programs.

The Board of Education announced it intends to add a referendum on the May 20 school budget and board election ballot asking voters if they would support a renovation project utilizing a grass field surface.

The project was the product of four months of planning and an outgrowth of Red Hook surpassing the New York State Farm-to-School Initiative in which it encourages schools to have at least 30% of its lunch menu consist of New York-sourced items.
