Britten Hicks
Middle & High School Alternative Classroom Morning Supervisor, Middle & High School Assistant Librarian, Varsity Scholar Bowl Coach.
Hello, my name is Britten Hicks and I am an assistant librarian in the Middle and High school this year at Putnam County R-1 schools. This is my second year working in the library! Before working as a library assistant, I was a paraprofessional who worked with children in all three buildings, K-12. Before that, I was a substitute teacher for all grade levels at Putnam. This year I work in conjunction with Mrs. Watt and do any tasks in the library that is needed, including helping students with checking out books, taking care of the coffee bar and even assisting with homework and technical issues. I also started a gaming club for Middle and High School students and I coach the Varsity Scholar Bowl team. In the mornings, you can find me supervising in the alternative classroom.
In 2009, I graduated from Putnam and in 2011 I graduated from Moberly Area Community College with my Associates Degree. Four years later, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in History from Truman State University. While I was in school, I was a part of many organizations, some of which included, Upward Bound and the McNair Program. These highly selective programs encouraged and supported me through my college years.
In my free time, I enjoy multiple activities with friends and family and on the weekends you can find me taking in the newest blockbuster movie at the local movie theater. During the summer months, I am the Director of Vacation Bible School at Omaha Baptist Church. As an enthusiast of anything concerning history, I have a collection of items with any historical meaning that including coins from the late 1800’s and the signature of the Cardinals manager Tony La Russa.
