Fourth graders are beginning to learn about Missouri ecosystems with a new unit this year. With a unit provided by the Missouri department of conservation, we are learning about ecosystems specific to Missouri. So far, we have discussed pond life, forests, and prairies. The students are able to apply their prior knowledge of our environment and make connections to what we are reading. The unit also includes many hands on activities that keep students engaged. We are currently checking and recording the temperature daily using the internet, and we are looking forward to getting outside and exploring more once the weather has improved a little more.
