The Putnam County FCCLA competed at Regional STAR (Students Taking Action for Recognition) Events on February 3rd, 2011 with much success. The Putnam County FCCLA had five members who created various projects for judging at Region 3 competition in Meadville, MO. The events span various areas related to Family and Consumer Sciences. Students develop a range of items including interior design boards, research portfolios, and oral presentations. It allows students to develop oral and written communication skills in areas of personal interest.

Students competed against other FCCLA members across the northeast corner of the state. Students can receive gold, silver, or bronze based on the scoring of their projects at regional competition. All five students who competed received a Gold rating at regional competition and four of the students scored high enough to move on to the State STAR events.
