Krieger celebrates Unity Day
Students at Krieger Elementary School stood up against bullying last week as part of Unity Day, which is celebrated on the third or fourth Wednesday of October, which is National Bullying Prevention Month.
Students created posters, colored and signed pledge forms saying they wouldn’t bully others. They also donned the color orange. According to Pacer’s National Bullying Prevention Center, the color is chosen not just for the season but because it is associated with safety and visibility.
Pacer started Unity Day in 2011. According to the organization, bullying can affect learning, self-esteem and lead to mental health issues. For more about bullying and resources to help, please visit the district’s Bullying and Cyberbullying FAQ page.
