Thank you for your interest in the Plainfield Public Schools. We are looking for qualified substitutes who are committed to positively interacting with our students, working collaboratively with our staff and keeping our programs moving forward while regular teachers are absent. 

To become a Substitute Teacher in our school district, you should possess the following:

A valid NJ Teaching Certificate OR

A valid State of New Jersey Substitute Teacher’s Credential (required ONLY for substitute teacher/nurse/coach)

Must be Available to work a minimum of two days per week.

Substitute Nurses: If you do not possess a school nurse certificate, you must apply for a State of New Jersey Substitute Teacher’s Credential and provide current RN license and transcripts.

To obtain or renew your State of New Jersey Substitute Teacher’s Credential follow the process below:

Substitute Credential Application https://nj.gov/education/license/tcis/index.html 

click on Apply for Certification, 

click on NJEdCert  then,  

click on Create Account and follow the steps.

The Substitute Credential will be issued electronically.  

The fee is $125.00 and is valid for 5 years.
